Research Support Manager
Job Description
Assumes responsibility for assisting the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) with the planning, coordination and direction of logistical aspects of grants by providing collaborative high level technical and analytical support for the department to meet compliance obligations. Supports multiple projects simultaneously with ongoing deadlines. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility: Assumes responsibility for the implementation, oversight and maintenance of electronic and paper-based OSP file systems maintaining accurate records for easy retrieval by departmental staff. Consistently reviews files in an effort to ensure signature binders, funding logs and archive files are accurate. Utilizes or develops databases to generate reports to audit and verify data in an effort to ensure integrity within systems. Performs data clean up, as appropriate. Acts as a liaison with internal and external constituents. *

Description of Key Responsibility: Examines the conditions of each grant in order to accurately capture key data from contracts, grant notifications and budgets. Prepares, compiles and submits Award Setup Requests to the Office of Financial Accounting. Communicates directly with the Principal Investigator, as necessary and appropriate. Generates and submits grant close-out paperwork to faculty and archives closed grants. Develops and maintains knowledge of federal regulations governing research administration, specifically Uniform Guidance, 2 CFR 200.

Description of Key Responsibility: Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with various internal and external constituencies including, but not limited to, the CETA Space Grant Office in an effort to create and manage sub-award master agreements and amendments, coordinate contract processing, obtain signatures, and communicate with partner institutions across the state.

Description of Key Responsibility: Partners closely with the Office of Marketing and Communication to draft UNOTES announcements for grant awards, as well as program or funding changes. Maintains the OSP website and updates all content consistent with established branding guidelines. Assists in the planning and execution of the OSP outreach activities.

Description of Key Responsibility: Works with the Director to maintain departmental budget using BANNER . Tracks expenses and reviews and process expense reports. Maintains and tracks subscriptions and resources available for industry best practices, networking and other funding opportunities.

Bachelors Degree Required. Must be willing to obtain a Certificate of Research Administration

Varied: Supervisor is available on an "as-needed" basis to establish broad objectives and to identify potential resources for assistance. Independent judgment is required to select and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures to achieve desired results.

Requires regular contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Occasionally requires contact with officials at higher levels on matters requiring cooperation, explanation and persuasion.

Requires regular external contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Occasionally requires contacts with the public involving the enforcement of regulations, polices and procedures.

This level of skill is typically reserved for an individual with a four-year degree or a high-level vocational skill demonstrated by a number of years of on-the-position experience. Writes reports using technical data requiring considerable interpretation, developing new methods and procedures. Frequently applies knowledge to practical issues and problems.
